The Drums of War follows the adventures of John Drake who joins the Royal Marines just before the outbreak of WWII. His adventures take us to different parts of the world as he sees action at Dunkirk, Crete and Singapore. The young marine’s confidence with women grows as he matures; his engagements with those he meets make for stimulating reading.

As fortress Singapore surrenders to the Japanese, Drake along with several others crew a yacht and attempt to sail to Australia. They finally reach Darwin after several encounters with their Japanese pursuers. here they are persauded to join the ‘Coast Watchers’ before being allowed to return to England.

On return he joins a special unit and things become even more exciting . . .
